With the growth of the corporate sector in India, Corporate communication is fast emerging as a career
option. Corporate Communication is an activity that ensures proper communication among different
stake holders of an organization starting from the top executives to the end users of a product. The
Corporate communication department of an organization plays one of the key roles particularly in
today’s digital age when people have access to information through different media.
Corporate communication manages and orchestrates all external and internal communication and
creates favorable point of view among others. It is an activity issued by corporate organization, body
or institute to its public to explain company’s mission and vision. It creates a positive concept which
link stakeholders to the organization.
Although the key responsibility of Corporate communication is to disseminate information about the
particular organization, it also channels feedback about the organization to the top management so
as to ensure a healthy growth of the company or the organization. It helps the organization to build
bridges between the organization and public so that communication flows smoothly. It is also a
practice to maintain corporate identity or brand image and it involves a series of planned program to
communicate. That is why mostly organizations maintain a separate and full-fledged corporate
communication department.
As the reputation of an organization is the most important factor, Corporate communication has
assumed immense significance in today’s world. Also known as media relations earlier, it includes
writing and distribution of news, responding to media queries, conducting press conference,
arranging banners and event or training spokespersons to speak at news conference so the
organization’s brand image could be publicized.
The corporate communicators monitor what the media is saying about the company. Sometime an
organization may face challenges like criminal allegations, media inquiries, violation of regulation
etc. At that point corporate communicators come across genuinely to present their side of story and
to clarify and respond to inaccurate information.
Employee communications, investor relations, marketing and government regulations etc. are
