Career in Software Engineering

Software engineering is a branch of computer engineering where principle of software engineering is applied to design, development, maintenance, testing and upgradation of computer software. It is a study of systematic method to apply scientific knowledge, documentation of software in computer programming.

In this profession, people mostly work as employees or contractors, with businesses, government agencies or non- profit organization.A webpage or internet powered application is the end result of software engineer’s work. One can also term the computer science professionals as one who use knowledge of engineering principles and programming language to build software products, develop computer games and run network control systems.

There are two types of Software engineer-

 Application Software developers

 System software developers

Besides these, because of industry demand and technical expertise, there are some other common

roles in the field of software engineering-

 Mobile developer

 Application Architect

 Quality assurance analyst

 Database administrators

To become a software engineer one need to know basic concepts of information technology and computer systems, expertise in a programming language, communication skills, ability to adapt to new trends, project requirement etc. With proper qualification and knowledge, software engineer can work in almost any type of industry.
